How to Prepare for Exams When You Only Have One Week
A realistic one-week revision approach: triage the syllabus, set daily goals, practise questions and protect your sleep.
Day one: list and triage
Write every topic of the syllabus. Mark each one as strong, medium or weak, and note which ones are likely to carry more marks in your past papers. You cannot cover everything perfectly, so decide what matters most.
Plan each day
Divide the topics across the days, leaving the last day for light revision and rest. Plan a small number of topics per day so you can actually finish them, and track progress so you can see what is done.
Learn by practising
Past papers and practice questions give more value than rereading. Attempt questions with a timer, then check where you lost marks and revise only those gaps.
Use focus blocks
Work in short, focused sessions with breaks. Remove your phone from the desk, and keep a notepad for stray thoughts so they do not interrupt you.
Protect sleep and prepare logistics
Sleep helps memory, so staying up all night usually costs more than it gains. Use a checklist the day before: admit card, ID, pens, calculator if allowed, and the route and time to the exam centre.
