How to Merge PDFs into One Assignment Submission
A practical checklist for combining a cover page, answers and appendices into one clean PDF before you upload it.
Why one file matters
Many submission portals accept a single attachment. If your work is spread across a typed report, photos of handwritten answers and a signed declaration, combining them into one PDF is the simplest way to submit everything in the right order.
Prepare each piece
Turn photos into PDF pages first. Crop out table edges and fingers, and make sure pages are upright. If a page is sideways, rotate it before merging, because it is easier to fix one file than the final document.
Put the files in order
A common order is cover page, declaration, main answers, then appendices or references. Name your files with numbers, such as 01-cover and 02-answers, so they line up predictably when you add them.
Merge and check
After merging, scroll through the whole document. Look for missing pages, duplicates, upside-down pages and pages that are too dark to read. This takes a minute and prevents a re-submission.
Check the size and name
Compare the file size with the portal's limit. If it is too large, compress it, or follow the steps in our guide on reducing PDF size. Use the file name your instructor asked for, which is often your roll number or name plus the subject code.
This guide is general information. Rules differ between institutions, so confirm requirements with your college or the portal you are using.
