Screen recording, minus the production.
Capture your idea. Polish the details. Bookmark the good bits.
A clearer way to share what’s in your head.
This sets a preference. Your browser’s share dialog makes the final selection.

Precise trim controls, thumbnail timeline, and undo when you change your mind.
Automatic or manual zoom, a flexible camera bubble, and separate audio levels.
Searchable bookmarks, chapter notes, and projects you can reopen on this device.
Projects you explicitly save in the editor appear here, including video, edits, and bookmarks. Browser cleanup or private mode can erase them. Download important videos.

Lazy Recorder is a free browser screen recorder and video editor for project demos, lessons and walkthroughs. Capture a tab, a window or your screen with optional voice, shared audio and webcam. Trim a clip, adjust automatic or manual zoom, balance sound, and add searchable timestamped bookmarks with notes. Import an existing MP4, WebM or MOV, or try the editor with a locally generated sample. Save a project on this device to return to the source video, edits and bookmarks. Export a video as WebM, or MP4 when your browser supports H.264. Media processing stays in your browser; no account, installation or watermark is required.
Choose a recording preset, then a tab, window or full screen. Check camera, microphone, shared sound and auto-zoom. The browser share dialog makes the final source selection.
Press Start recording, choose the content you are allowed to record and wait for the three-second countdown. Tick Share audio in the browser dialog when you need the tab sound. Pause or stop with the recording controls.
Use the bookmark button while recording. In the editor, pause at a moment and use Bookmark or the B key when you are not typing. Give each bookmark a title, note and color. Search the list or click a timestamp to jump back.
Drag the timeline handles or use Cut start here and Cut end here. Add or remove zoom moments, position your webcam bubble and adjust voice or original audio. Preview speed is only for reviewing; it does not speed up the export.
Choose Save project before leaving. This saves the original media, edits and bookmarks in this browser on this device. Reopen it from On this device. Saving is manual, and clearing browser data can erase projects.
Choose Export, a supported format and a quality preset. Keep the tab open while it exports. Chapter notes downloads a separate text file containing bookmarks inside the selected clip, with times adjusted to its trimmed start.
Yes. Recording, editing, bookmarks and local project saving require no sign-up, installation or watermark. Your browser and available device resources determine the supported formats and practical recording length.
Add a bookmark during capture or at the editor playhead. Each marker has an editable title, note and color. Click its timestamp to seek, search its text, or download chapter notes. Save project keeps all bookmarks with the original media. Bookmarks do not appear as text inside the exported video.
Yes, if you click Save project first and the save succeeds. Reopen it from On this device in the same browser and profile. This is local browser storage, not a cloud backup. Save again after making changes, and download important finished videos.
The recorder, editor and local project storage do not upload your media to LazyStudents. Shared devices can expose locally saved projects to other users of that browser profile. The website may use separate analytics or advertising services as described in the Privacy Policy.
Use Import a video for MP4, WebM, MOV or M4V files up to 500 MB. Your browser must support the file's codec. Imported audio is one original track; it cannot be separated into individual speakers. Camera controls are available for separate webcam tracks captured by this recorder.
It detects small changes in the captured video and zooms toward them. It cannot track your cursor in other applications. Imported videos start without automatic zoom moments; you can add manual zooms in the editor.
Enable the microphone or camera before capture. For tab audio, also tick Share audio in the browser share dialog. Source and operating-system restrictions apply; sharing a single application window often provides no audio.
Screen capture requires a desktop browser that provides getDisplayMedia, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Mobile visitors can try importing and editing a video where their browser supports its codec and media APIs. Large files can exceed phone memory.
Drag the Lazy Recorder shortcut to your bookmarks bar, or press Ctrl+D on Windows and Cmd+D on Mac. On mobile use your browser's bookmark menu. The shortcut opens the recorder; a click and the browser share dialog are still required to start capture.
MP4 export needs H.264 recording support in your browser. Use WebM when it is unavailable. Export renders the chosen clip locally and can take around the clip's running time or longer. Keep the tab open and avoid heavy work until the download finishes.
Imagine a three-minute demo with a ten-second wait at the start. Cut the first ten seconds, add a zoom over the result that is hard to read, and bookmark the explanation at source time 1:10. Name it “Why this result matters” and add a note about the comparison. Chapter notes will list that bookmark at 1:00 in the trimmed video. The original 1:10 timestamp stays in your saved project.
Before sharing, play the beginning and end, listen to the sound, and check that private tabs or notifications are absent. Export the video for your submission and download the chapter notes for your description or class handout. Project saving is separate from exporting: choose Save project if you also want to return to your edits.
Only record material you own or have permission to capture. This tool does not bypass protected video or meeting restrictions. Capture sources, shared sound and MP4 export depend on the browser and operating system. If a source is silent, record a short test with a different source before a long session.
Saved projects belong to this browser profile and may be visible to other people using it. They are not synced or backed up by LazyStudents. Download important media before clearing browser data. Read our Privacy Policy, Terms and Disclaimer, or contact us if you find a problem.
