For CBSE and most UGC-affiliated universities, multiply your CGPA by 9.5. For example, 8.2 CGPA × 9.5 = 77.9%. Some universities publish their own formula, such as VTU ((CGPA − 0.75) × 10) and Anna University (CGPA × 10).
CBSE calculated 9.5 as the average ratio between marks and grade points across several years of board results. Many colleges adopted the same factor.
Switch to “Percentage → CGPA”. With the 9.5 rule, CGPA = percentage ÷ 9.5, so 60% needs about 6.32 CGPA.
Only if it uses your university's official formula. Always quote the formula printed on your marksheet or transcript; many universities issue a conversion certificate on request.
